Merton Park Primary School

Merton School PrimaryMerton School Primary

Pupils do exceptionally well at this school, in terms of both their academic and personal development.

Leaders, including governors, are relentless in their ambition to make this school the best it can be.

The behaviour of pupils is outstanding. Pupils have excellent attitudes to learning. They work hard at all times and persevere with tasks that are frequently challenging.

The warm, mutually supportive relationships that staff and pupils have with each other make this a very caring, nurturing school.

Provision in the Early Years is outstanding. Children make rapid and sustained progress due to excellent teaching and imaginative activities.

The curriculum is excellent. It promotes a real love for learning in pupils, as they have many opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills within a real-life context.

Half term is next week so I will not be setting activities for the children for that time.  I came across some things that might be fun to have a look at, just in case you need to fill some moments!

  • How about making some puppets and doing a show?  The Little Angel Theatre is based in North London and they have a great list of different activities, including lots of different puppets to make, on their website.   You can add photos of your work to their gallery and watch some of their shows on their YouTube channel here.
  • I also came across some great creative activities on the British Library website here.
  • Some of you have discovered Hit the Button, which is a fun online maths game where you can set your own level of challenge.
  • Check out the Natural History Museum website too for a range of activities inside and out!

As a Rights Respecting School, we want to ensure that children learn about their rights, and help them to relate these rights to themselves and to other children around the world.  With this in mind UNICEF are providing a weekly set of remote learning activities centred on a specific article.  This weeks is Article 12,  Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously.  This PowerPoint tells you a bit more about the Right and also suggests some activities related to it.  Please choose at least one activity (two would be great!) from those suggested.  Do email me back what you have done.  You could also email Miss Parsons who would also very much like to see what you have been up to! : kparsons@mertonpark.merton.sch.uk
